There’s no such thing as a typical day at WSP. Your role will be varied and your learning will be fast paced. One day can be completely different to the next.  You may be involved with taking concepts, ideas and designs from an architect or engineer and creating drawings using software such as Autocad to match those given.

What you will do in your working day
As a civil engineering apprentice in our Development Infrastructure team, you will get the opportunity to work on structural drawings software to produce 3D models and 2D drawings and work with other engineers, clients and contractors.  You will be liaising with project team members, taking on more tasks and responsibility as your experience grows.   Where practical, you’ll get the opportunity to visit site and see the projects you’ve been working on, coming to life.
The training you will be getting
You will attend Leeds Beckett University to study a Civil Engineering degree apprenticeship and gain either a BEng or BSc as well as your Incorporated Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers. You will also be enrolled onto a bespoke internal development scheme to support you to attain the knowledge, skills and behaviour to achieve your apprenticeship.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
As this is a permanent position, after gaining your degree, WSP will continue to be committed to your learning and development throughout your career with us. You will have the opportunity to get Chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers, as well as the chance to study towards a Masters.
