Reach for Excellence and Next Steps York Applications Open Now

Two widening participation programmes have opened up for students in Year 12 to apply for; Reach for Excellence The University of Leeds Reach for Excellence Programme is for Year 12 students who are expecting good grades at A Level and that either come from an area with low progression to University, are a family first to university or who has experienced disruption or financial difficulty in the course of their education (see Leeds full eligibility criteria here.) You don't have to commit to applying to Leeds University in Y13, in fact you don't need to put them down as a choice at all. Being part of the Reach for Excellence Programme is a great addition for your UCAS application wherever you apply to. The Access to Leeds programme is designed to help your transition to university life by giving you the opportunity to take part in a number of activities before you start your degree course. As an Access to Leeds student you will benefit from: special consideration from admissions tutors an alternative offer for your course, up to two grades lower than the standard offer attending a launch event on campus to find out more about the University of Leeds and its facilities, and the Access to Leeds module. EDT Headstart Courses for STEM Careers

Headstart is a programme for students age 16-17  who are interested in studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects at university, for example subjects such as Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry etc. Students are offered the chance to attend a week long summer school at their choice of top university  which will give you a chance to decide which course would be for you and a chance to experience undergraduate study.
