Headstart Summer School Programme (Year 12)

Headstart Summer School Programme Headstart  is a programme for students age 16-17  who are interested in studying  Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths  subjects at university, for example subjects such as Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry etc. Students are offered the chance to attend a week long summer school at the end of Year 12 at their choice of top university which will give you a chance to decide which course would be for you and a chance to experience undergraduate study. Access to Leeds - Applications Now Open! (Year 13)

Are you eligible for Access to Leeds? Anyone applying to a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Leeds can apply to the Access to Leeds scheme. If you are eligible for the scheme you may receive an offer which has been lowered by two grades below the normal standard offer. To be eligible you must be living permanently in the UK, have the potential to succeed at the University of Leeds and meet two or more of the following criteria: ·          be from a household with an annual income of £25,000 or below or in receipt of 16-19 Bursary Fund or Discretionary Learner Support with an income threshold of £25,000, or in receipt of free school meals during your GCSE studies ·          be in the first generation of your immediate family to go to university ·          attend a school achieving below the national average at GCSE (Attainment 8 score) ·          your only option is to attend a local university ·          your studies have been disrupted by circumstan

Newcastle Partners Programme Newcastle Partners is a great way to prepare for university life, whether you are considering Newcastle or not, and on completion will lead to a revised (lower) offer.  Making an application is easy: Step one Check the PARTNERS Programme  eligibility criteria  and/or  contact us . Step two Complete a UCAS form  adding the letter 'P' in the 'Further Details' section next to the PARTNERS degree programme(s). Newcastle will not be able to process your PARTNERS application until your UCAS application is fully complete as we need your predicated grades, submitted by your teacher/tutor, to be able to fully assess your eligibility. Therefore,  don't submit your PARTNERS application form until you are at the stage to also submit your UCAS form  to UCAS. The 'P' enables admissions staff to identify PARTNERS applicants. Sutton Trust Pathway Applications Now Open

The Sutton Trust are an organisation who aim to support students interested in going to University in a number of sectors. They run programmes for year 12 students to get involved with a local university whilst studying at college to attend workshops, work experience placements, have access to a university mentor etc..  The opportunity to get involved in this programme gives you a really good insight and helps you stand out! The local programmes which are available are: Pathways to Law, at The University of Leeds,  Pathways to STEM at The University of York Pathways to Medicine at Hull York Medical School. In order to be considered for the programme you need to be able to travel to these universities and meet strict eligibility criteria and complete an application. Reach for Excellence Talk (Year 12) - DEADLINE 16TH NOVEMBER

Reach for Excellence is designed to support and motivate young people who demonstrate potential but who may not have considered applying to a research intensive university. Leeds recruit participants in Year 12 and provide wide-ranging support alongside their studies in Year 12 and Year 13, which will help to strengthen their attainment and prepare them for making decisions about university, whether they wish to apply to the University of Leeds or elsewhere. Successful RfE applicants are invited to engage with a wide range of subject-specific academic taster sessions, sample university-level lectures and intensive study skills workshops. The University of Leeds also offer a broad range of advice and guidance sessions that include life skills, how to navigate choices of university and course, UCAS applications, student loans and finances, careers information, and a variety of enrichment experiences. Northumbria University Pop Up Open Day On Wednesday 24th October 2018 Northumbria University is hosting a 'Pop Up' Open Day  at Leeds Town Hall. The Pop Up Open Day will commence at 1pm and finish at 5pm, this will give you the opportunity to speak with representatives from student support and Wellbeing, Accommodation, Admissions, Sport and the Outreach team. We will be hosting a variety of talks including personal statement writing, student finance and information about student life in Newcastle.  The Pop Up Open Days give you the opportunity to experience some of Northumbria University's most popular features without having to travel a distance. Information Evening for Apprenticeships in Accounting: School Leaver Programme Insights at RSM (Leeds)

Following on from the success of last year’s event, RSM are hosting this year’s Careers Insight Evening on Thursday 1 November at their Leeds office. This is aimed at students studying for their A levels to provide them with more information about school leaver apprenticeships in accountancy which are a fantastic alternative to university. The evening will be interactive and informative giving students the opportunity to learn more about our main service lines (including accounts and business advisory, tax and audit) as well as having the opportunity to meet both partners and trainees. The evening will also include a ‘day in the life’ so they can get a true feel for the role.
