Reach for Excellence Talk (Year 12) - DEADLINE 16TH NOVEMBER

Reach for Excellence is designed to support and motivate young people who demonstrate potential but who may not have considered applying to a research intensive university. Leeds recruit participants in Year 12 and provide wide-ranging support alongside their studies in Year 12 and Year 13, which will help to strengthen their attainment and prepare them for making decisions about university, whether they wish to apply to the University of Leeds or elsewhere.

Successful RfE applicants are invited to engage with a wide range of subject-specific academic taster sessions, sample university-level lectures and intensive study skills workshops. The University of Leeds also offer a broad range of advice and guidance sessions that include life skills, how to navigate choices of university and course, UCAS applications, student loans and finances, careers information, and a variety of enrichment experiences. RfE students will also be invited to apply to attend our residential summer school held at the University of Leeds in 2019.

Events primarily take place at the University of Leeds campus in school/college holiday periods to minimise curricular disruption while encouraging independent study habits. More information about Reach for Excellence, including the eligibility criteria, can be found on the website.

How to apply
The deadline for all applications is 12 noon on Friday 16 November 2018.
All applications must be submitted online and supporting references will be requested from a teacher or tutor at the school. The application form and guidance notes are available here: https://studenttalentspotting.leeds.ac.uk/rfeapply/

Entry to the scheme is competitive. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read all the guidance notes thoroughly and to pay particular attention to the Applicant Statement, which is also excellent practice for writing UCAS Statements. Places will be allocated to students based on information provided in their application.
